End of year Food Bloggers Lunch at Richard's

  6 January 2010

There are always cameras at a food bloggers event. And always too much food! We are gathered at Richard’s for an end of year get together and we’ve all brought along something to eat…

HAI! I’ve been told that when i pull the maniacal eyes + grin face it means i’m doing something crazy. I got to Richard’s place early because I needed time to slice up and assemble my secret weapon…

Ladies and gentlemen I present to you: The Luther Burger! That’s right look again for it has the innards of a hamburger but with Krispy Kreme donuts for the ‘buns’! The Luther Burger is made up of a beef pattie, a fried egg, a slice of pineapple, crispy bacon and a slice of cheese. Now now you can’t knock it till you try it and hey at least I didn’t deep fry the suckers! (Will post how I made them on Friday but it’s pretty self explanatory no?)

Yeah looking at a whole plate of Luther Burgers is a bit much isn’t it. For me, the taste was ok cos I like the sweet + salty combo altho the egg nearly put me off the burger. It definitely needed the slice of pineapple and next time (hah!) I would try to find the American orange cheese. And maybe a deep-fryer…

Hello burgah innards! The majority of us halved the burgers and out of 20 of us only LEX didn’t like it and that’s because he put baconnaise on it haha

Paparazzi

The Ninja has brought some mighty tasty sausages and we all jump to grab a slice of bread to make sausage sandwiches and slather on some of Richard’s prized possesion: The Baconnaise. Interestingly the baconnaise does not contain any form of bacon…

Shez has made pillowy slabs of ham, tomato & cheese foccacia

Richard’s pork belly arrives to the sounds of oooh ahhh. Someone points happily to the wobbly layer of fat and Richard exclaims “hey don’t worry I used lemon it’s got fruit so it’s healthy!”

I loved Jacq’s creamy potato salad and it was conveniently sitting right in front of me hoho

Billy arrives proudly bearing his slab of roast pork which was crackle-licious!

Simon’s balls Chicken Surprise. One of them had wasabi which the Ninja managed to hunt out with his 1337 skillz

A short break later and we are back at the table hovering excitedly as we watch Steph blowtorch her cheesecake into molten marshmallow goodness

Mmm melty

Helen has made strawberry and balsamic cupcakes with strawberry jam innards and a dusting of strawberry popping candy. For the first time that day we are all silent as we let the candy melt on our tongues and listen to it as it pops away

Momofuku cookies from NYC from Teresa. These babies were massive and super packed full with crazy pretzel bits and chocolate chips

Jacq’s super pretty pannacotta had me going back for seconds. And thirds. Psst recipe dude!

Lisa’s tea-ramisu (heh geddit?) with pistachios on the side so Steph doesn’t keel over hehe

Shez’s lemon cake with freshly whipped cream was nice and zingy and argh I forgot to take a pic of her chocolate fruit pudding oh noes!

And then there was several hours of guitar hero followed by the arrival of Yas bearing 2 whole platters of sushi from Makoto and Lex with ginormous anchovy butter prawns and a crazy game of Pictionary where I realised I cannot draw haha thanks for hosting Richard!
